Obverse: IMP • CAESAR. Bare head right.
Reverse: AVGVSTVS, capricorn right, head left, bearing cornucopia on back; all within laurel wreath.
VF+ condition, conserving complete details on both sides and bold reliefs. Very nice specimen of this scarce and interesting issue.
The capricorn represents Octavian’s birth sign. Adding the cornucopia, or horn of plenty, to the back of the capricorn symbolizes the prosperity brought about through his efforts, and his victories are symbolized by the laurel wreath.
