Draped bust of Marianne to left, wearing a Phrygian cap and an oak and olive wreath. Signed MORLON., Graded PCGS MS65 #55909768. The only example graded.Nickel prototype of Morlon's 2 Franc coin. Of the highest rarity, second known example, to be considered as Fleur de Coin. This is a creation of the engraver Morlon, a prototype for the 2 franc coin that precedes even the specimens, pre-series and patterns dated from 1930 and 1931. Its distinctive feature is a portrait of Marianne whose wreath is made up of only two vegetals: the olive branch and the oak branch. On following strikes, the engraving changed and the wreath also included ears of wheat. Until now, only one example was known: the one from the Carles-Jongues collection, which was last sold in 2004 (CGB, Mail Bid Sale 19, 29/01/2004, lot 1725). Magnetic blank.
