Busts of Leopold V, crowned, draped and cuirassed, and Claude de Médicis, dressed and crowned, both wearing a large ruff., Busts of Leopold V, crowned, draped and cuirassed, with his shoulder cutting into the legend, and Claudia de' Medici, dressed and crowned, both wearing a large ruff., Superb double thaler for the county of Tyrol featuring the busts of the Archduke and his wife, Claude de Medici, on both the obverse and reverse. A very interesting hybrid coin featuring on the obverse the posthumous type of the 1635 issue minted during Claude's regency after the death of Leopold V (1632-1646), and on the reverse the busts of the 1626 issue commemorating their marriage! Unfortunately, this specimen has a scratch on the obverse and has been cleaned and shows hairlines, but there is a beautiful patina with red-gold tones in the legends and the hollows in the busts.
