Edith Stein wurde am 12.10.1891 in Breslau als Tochter des jüdischen Holzhändlers Siegfried Stein geboren. Nach dem frühen Tod ihres Vaters erfuhr sie eine streng jüdische Erziehung durch ihre Mutter, wandte sich jedoch schon in ihrer Schulzeit von Gott ab. Nach einem erfolgreichen Studium und dem Kennenlernen des Lebens der Hl.Teresa von Avila, konvertierte Edith Stein zum Katholischen Glauben und empfing am 1.1.1922 in Landau/Pfalz die Taufe. Sie wirkte dann bis 1931 in Speyer als Studienrätin, anschliessend in Köln, Münster und Echt/Belgien. Ihr letztes Lebenszeichen kam Anfang August 1942 vom Bahnhof Schifferstadt/Pfalz aus einem Deportationszug pfälzischer Juden nach Auschwitz.
