The identity of the "Master Alexandro" is not known, but it is likely that he was an Italian craftsman invited to Russia by Ivan III. He was the moneyer or the person paying for the production of this issue.

Ivan III Vasilievich (Russian: Иван III Васильевич) (22 January 1440, Moscow 27 October 1505, Moscow), was a Grand Prince of Moscow and "Grand Prince of all Rus" (Великий князь всея Руси).
