Domitian "marketed" his successes in Germania (his main opponents were the Chatti) in typological approximation to his father's IVDAEA-CAPTA-ctrikings. Contemporary (senatorial) historiography plays down Domitian's successes. However, they must have been successful, because almost a century after the reign of the last Flavian, there were hardly any Germanic invasions on the Upper Rhine and the agri decumates
