Historical context:
Issued in 1965 to commemorate the 50-year jubilee of the Odense Numismatic Association (founded in 1915), this medal honors Frederik Christensen (1885–1961), a leading Danish numismatist and coin cataloguer. The classical reverse emphasizes numismatics as a learned discipline. Designed by Holger Salomon, a prominent Danish sculptor and medallist active in the mid-20th century.
