“This book presents one of the main contributions of Pablo Núñez’s thesis: the description and cataloging of medieval coin finds in Galicia based on the study of collections from Galician museums. This contribution was truly needed since, until now, only a few hundred medieval coins found in Galicia had been published. As Pablo states in the book’s introduction, this is nothing compared to the more than 20,000 Roman coins that had already been published. Fortunately, this book doubles the record of Galician coins and tenfolds the record of published finds.

The book contains 247 pages in color. It describes 1186 coins from the main museums in Galicia. The study of these coins and the context in which they were found provides valuable information for medieval researchers: who were the users of the coinage? What was the level of monetization? What were the centers of monetary attraction? What social and economic relationships arose from the exchange of coins? All these questions are addressed in the book. It also includes tables with details of various finds. Finally, there are 100 pages of color images of the coins from these finds. Although the photos may not be as beautiful as Pablo would have liked, considering the condition of the found coins, it is the best that can be offered.”
