The Austrian army recaptured Prague in 1744; the forces doing so were led by Prince Charles Alexander of Lorraine, the Austrian general who would later after the war of Austrian succesion become the governor of the Austrian Netherlands. His portait on horseback features heavily on this medal, which was strangely produced in Britain by the medalist John Kirk. This is likely to the British connenction in the War of Austrian succesion; Britain prodived funds to Maria Theresa to fight this war, as referenced to on the reverse of this medal.
