This iconic medal for the completion of the Equastrian statue of Joseph II was produced in both silver and gold by Johan Nepomuk Wirt. In both metals it is a rare medal; this is a high quality contemporary Fer de Berlin cast made from a rare original. The statue depicted is still visible in Vienna on the aptly named Josefsplatz, where it emphasises one of the most gorgeous baroque courtyards of Vienna.
Obverse: Portait of emperor Franz II - I.N. WIRT. F.
Reverse: Monument for Joseph II; equistrian statue with the emperor on horseback right on pedestal - IOSEPHO II. AVG. FRANCISCVS ROM. ET AVST. IMP. - MDCCCVI
