The 5000 tugrik banknote from Mongolia, issued in 2024, commemorates the 100th anniversary of the creation and strengthening of the country's modern banking system. This banknote is part of a special MB series.
On the front of the banknote is a portrait of Chingis Khaan (Temüjin), born around 1162 and died in 1227. He is depicted with a Paiza (Gerege), a tablet of authority used by Mongolian officials and envoys. This tablet granted Mongolian nobles and officials the right to demand goods and services from the civilian population. The national coat of arms of Mongolia is also present, as well as a commemorative stamp placed on the right side.
The face value of the banknote is 5000 tugriks. The writing used on the banknote is Manchurian.
This banknote is a testament to Mongolian history, combining elements of its imperial past with the celebration of its modern banking system. The figure of Chingis Khaan, a symbol of Mongolian power and authority, is highlighted alongside contemporary national symbols.
