This French 2 euro commemorative coin 2026 celebrates the 80th anniversary of the publication of The Little Prince in France, the world-renowned work by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, published in 1946.

The national side honours The Little Prince in his famous contemplative pose. The character appears in front of the number 80, specially integrated into the composition to symbolise this anniversary. The inscription « Le Petit Prince », the letters RF for République française (French Republic), the year 2026 and the mint marks of the Monnaie de Paris complete the design. The twelve European stars surround the composition.

This edition features a Reverse Proof finish. Unlike the traditional Proof finish, the treatment of the surfaces and relief elements is reversed in order to create a different contrast between the matte and shiny parts of the coin. This finish, particularly appreciated by collectors, gives the Little Prince design a visual appearance distinct from that of the Proof version.

The reverse features the common side of 2 euro coins, with the face value and the representation of Europe.

Presented in its official Monnaie de Paris case, this Reverse Proof version is a specific variant of the 2026 Little Prince 2 euro coin intended for collectors.

The coin retains the standard specifications of the 2 euro coin: 25.75 mm diameter, 8.50 g and a bimetallic composition.
