The Cảnh Thịnh Thông Bảo is a Vietnamese coin with a value of one văn, issued between 1792 and 1801 during the Cảnh Thịnh era, corresponding to the reign of Nguyễn Quang Toản, the last ruler of the Tây Sơn dynasty.
The Cảnh Thịnh period (1792-1801) was marked by profound instability within the Tây Sơn kingdom. Following the death of Nguyễn Huệ in 1792, his young son Nguyễn Quang Toản succeeded him amid internal power struggles among the Tây Sơn leaders. Meanwhile, Nguyễn Ánh, a rival claimant supported by French forces under the influence of Bishop Pigneau de Béhaine, intensified his offensives from the south of the country. Tensions with China remained latent, while internal conflicts considerably weakened the regime's military capacity. In 1801, Nguyễn Ánh captured Huế, bringing the Cảnh Thịnh era to an end and precipitating the collapse of the Tây Sơn dynasty. The following year, he founded the Nguyễn dynasty under the reign name Gia Long, definitively unifying Vietnam.
