This lot brings together 8 Venezuelan coins issued during two distinct periods, namely 2007 and 2016, offering a representative overview of Venezuela's monetary production over a decade marked by significant economic and monetary reforms.
The first set consists of 5 coins struck in 2007, with face values of 1, 5, 10, 12½ and 25 centimos respectively. These coins are made of copper-plated steel, which gives them a distinctive tone with golden and copper-coloured reflections. They belong to the Bolívar fuerte monetary system, introduced during the monetary reform of 2008.
The second set comprises 3 coins issued in 2016, with face values of 10, 50 and 100 Bolívares. These coins are made of nickel-steel, an alloy that gives them a silvery appearance and good resistance to wear. They are part of the Bolívar fuerte system, whose denominations evolved to cope with the country's economic situation.
All the coins in this lot are linked to the figure of Simón Bolívar, hero of South American independence and national symbol of Venezuela, whose effigy is traditionally depicted on Venezuelan coins. The national currency bears his name as a tribute to this major historical figure.
The total weight of the lot is 35 grams. These coins are entirely made of steel, in the two variants mentioned — copper-plated for the 2007 centimos and nickel-steel for the 2016 Bolívares — making this a coherent set representative of the coin-minting techniques used in Venezuela during this period.
