France is preparing to host the Summer Olympic Games in Paris in 2024, an international sporting event of tremendous scale that brings together athletes and spectators from around the world. To honour this unique moment in the country's history and celebrate the Olympic spirit, the Monnaie de Paris is launching a magnificent series of commemorative coins entitled "Olympic Games Paris 2024". Within this collection, the new French 2 euro commemorative coin for the year 2024 is now available, here in the Belle Épreuve (BE) version, highlighting the excellence and refinement of this special edition.

After representing the symbolic figure of Marianne in 2021, the Genius in 2022 and the Sower in 2023, the face of the 2024 coin pays tribute to Hercules, the mythological figure embodying strength and bravery, depicted in a wrestling scene, a nod to the values of courage and perseverance associated with the Olympic Games. This scene is enhanced by a background featuring the majestic silhouette of the Notre-Dame Cathedral of Paris, one of the most iconic and beloved monuments of the capital. Located just a few steps from the Monnaie de Paris, on the Île de la Cité, Notre-Dame adds a touch of Parisian heritage and history to this collectible work.

The edge of this coin is finely milled and adorned with the inscription "2", followed by two stars, a pattern repeated six times alternating orientation, thus creating a refined and harmonious visual effect. This unique and carefully crafted finish reflects the attention to detail in this commemorative series.
