Libius Severus, gold solidus, Rome mint, c. AD 461-5. His diademed, draped and cuirassed bust right/Emperor standing, facing, with long cross and globe surmounted by Victory holding laurel wreath and palm, crushing human-headed serpent with right foot. 4.17 g.
There are a few solidii known of Libius Severus and for the interregnum issue in the name of Leo which have unusually light weights, but good style and no sign of clipping. Such coins may belong to a special issue struck under a lighter weight standard, struck while there was no Western Roman Emperor between AD 465 and 467.
about extremely fine, minor surface marks. Very rare.
