Lycaonia, Laodicea Combusta (modern-day Ladik, Konya), Titus and Domitian as Caesars, AE (5.87 g) struck under Vespasian circa AD 69-79. Confronted busts of Titus and Domitian/Cybele seated left.
The city was founded by Seleukos I and appears to have received its unusual epithet from having burned down and then later having been reconstructed. The etymology found in Strabo which connects the name to volcanism seems fanciful.
Very fine, attractive green patina.
