Attica, Athens, AR tetradrachm c. 393-294 BC. Head of Athena right wearing helmet with profile eye and pi-style palmette/Owl, olive branch and crescent to upper left, ethnic to right. 17.19 g.
Better than very fine, lustrous, compact flan. Obverse countermarked with an Aramaic letter ayin.
Aramaic countermarks occur occasionally on Athens tetradrachms, indicating circulation in the Levant; however, they are usually seen on the earlier mass coinage issues, rather than this type.
