The Denmark 1777 Piastre, popularly known as the "Greenland Dollar," is a highly coveted and exceptionally rare trade coin. Minted by the Danish Asiatic Company at the Norwegian mint in Kongsberg, it was never meant to circulate in Europe or Greenland, but rather to facilitate lucrative tea and porcelain trade with the Orient.
