E PLURIBUS UNUM on the top edge, Thirteen stars below around the date; M for Morgan dollar designer George T. Morgan at the base of Lady Liberty's neck.

Reverse: An eagle holds an olive branch and three arrows, symbolizing peace and readiness for war with IN GOD WE TRUST between the eagle's outstretched wings, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA above, ONE DOLLAR below a laurel wreath, which contains the designer's initial M in its ribbon. Mint mark S (San Francisco) below wreath.
