For settlers in Kenya, social amenities included luxuries such as golf clubs and hospitals. The Nairobi and Kenyatta hospital was known as King George Hospital, created to remind settlers of their king back in England. One of these amenities was the Sports Club Nanyuki in 1945.

Likely a medal of the first football event in 1945 in Nanyuki.

There is a song about Nanyuki named mwisho wa reli, which means the end of the railroad. In this song Nanyuki is described as the epitome of all fantasies and leisure activities. A journey to Nanyuki was believed to be a journey to a magical place with every facility.

This medal comes from a period just one month after the end of the second world war.

Practical

For payments within Europe I recommend an IBAN transfer (SEPA), which saves you the extra costs of third parties.

Would you rather see a piece in hand first? That is possible by appointment. Send me a message telling me which piece it is and we will arrange something.

If you are unsure about a coin, feel free to ask for extra photos or for a detail you cannot see clearly on the scan.
