Thraco-Macedonian tribes, Mygdones or Krestones, AR diobol, c. 490-470 BC. Goat right, turning head back, two pellets (mark of value) in field/quadripartite incuse square. 0.93 g.
This coinage is believed to have been struck somewhere in the plains north of Thessaloniki; the area was not urbanized at the time. Previously it was attributed to various cities in Macedon.
Better than very fine, iridescent toning, perfectly centered. Scarce this nice.
