This Panamanian gold coin from 1977 was issued to commemorate the 500. Vasco Nunez de Balboa’s birthday Issued in honor of one of the most important explorers of the early modern period and the namesake of the Balboa currency, this coin is one of the classic modern gold commemorative coins of Latin America and was specifically minted in proof quality for the international collector market.

The coin offered here has been certified by NGC as PF69 Ultra Cameo . The proof quality features deeply mirrored fields combined with clearly frosted reliefs, creating a pronounced ultra-cameo contrast. For large-format gold proof coins of this era, the PF69 UCAM grade represents near-perfect preservation and is highly sought after by collectors.

The mintage of the Proof edition is limited to 1,980 pieces , making this gold coin a clear exception.
