Milk Token of the Hilversumsche Melkinrichting,

Obverse: Legend around: "HILVERSUMSCHE MELKINRICHTING". In the center, the inscription:
"GOED VOOR
1 LITER
OF FLESCH
MELK"
A small five-pointed star at the bottom.

Reverse: Image of a woman seated on a stool, milking a cow in a pastoral setting.

Historical context:
This brass token was issued by the Hilversumsche Melkinrichting and was redeemable for one liter or bottle of milk. As noted in Kooij MZ006, these tokens were distributed to the local poor through the St. Vitus parish in Hilversum, likely in the late 19th or early 20th century. They served both as charitable aid and a means to regulate milk distribution in times of economic hardship. The realistic rural scene on the reverse reinforces the product’s source and purity, typical of dairy tokens from this period.
