Historical context:
This privately issued Dutch medal was awarded on 13 October 1896 to G. Aquila Jr. for 12½ years of loyal service at the printing house of M.J.P. van Santen in Amsterdam. The 12½-year mark—half of the traditional 25-year jubilee—was a customary milestone in Dutch employment recognition. The medal reflects the appreciation of skilled craftsmanship and long-term dedication in the late 19th-century Amsterdam printing industry.
