Historical Context:
This silvered bronze medal was issued in 1919 by the Volksbund (National Association) as part of a campaign to aid ethnic Germans expelled from foreign territories after World War I. The “Rückwandererhilfe” (Repatriation Aid) initiative supported returnees through public donations. The medal, designed by F. Habert, commemorates the humanitarian effort and reflects the widespread postwar displacement across Central and Eastern Europe
